Seven Year’s of Bad Luck Max Linder, France 1921

Max breaks his full-length mirror and fears that he may be in for seven years of bad luck. It appears that this is exactly what has happened.
Perhaps a man before his time Max Linder was the screen's earliest distinc-tive film character. At a time when comedy was broadly played for laughs, Max Linder was invariably a nattily-dressed sophisticate, the wastrel son of wealthy parents who got into one scrape after another yet who always emerged unscathed. One can see from this the seeds of ideas that were later adapted by Chaplin, Etaix and others. After Max Linder's death, Chaplin dedicated one of his films: "For the unique Max, the great master - his disci-ple Charles Chaplin".
Paule Cornet – Pianist & Composer
After studying classical piano, she studied jazz composition and arrangement in Lyon and Miami. She writes music for the cinema (The Beaches of Agnès), various jazz groups and practises Brazilian percussion.
